We're still feeling "above the clouds" from last month's 2022 @seattlenace gala where we raised money for @kindredkitchen.snoco!⁠

Guests were transported from NACE Station 41 (@block41_seattle) to an intergalactic adventure with performances from @thegreatsurprisal and @circuswerks.⁠
⁠
It was an "all hands on deck" crew effort as we designed a concert stage, projection-mapped the stairwell, pixel mapped the lower-level station, installed and lit 30+ disco balls, created an immersive soundscape, uplighting + pin-spotting a space-y vibe, custom gobos, blacklights, and tying into the house lighting system for full experiential control.⁠

🌫️ Heavy Fog - often used to create "haze" to linger in the space and catch beams of light⁠

In the lighting world, we call it a "gobo". Starting around 1930, in the dawn of staged lighting, a new technology was created that uses a fabricated metal/glass disk to bend a light beam to project a specific image - and it was GAME CHANGING.⁠
⁠
(we don't actually know where the word comes from, but it's been around awhile!)⁠
⁠
This lighting technique took off in the theatrical lighting world and is still used today. Pictured here is a "breakup" gobo - intended to provide a variable degree of texture to a surface. We use this same method for monograms, projected logos, patterns, and animations.⁠
