Currant Bistro, a beloved Seattle/Belltown eatery within The Sound Hotel, sought to enhance its dining experience through innovative lighting design. Our team was tasked with crafting a lighting solution that would complement the bistro’s warm and inviting atmosphere while creating a visually striking focal point within the interior space.
Design Concept

The concept centered around creating a dynamic and versatile space that could adapt to different dining occasions, from casual breakfasts to lively evening gatherings.
Lighting Solution
To bring our vision to life, we implemented the following lighting elements:
- Modern Forms Magic Pendants: These dazzling crystal chandeliers, strategically placed throughout the bistro, added a touch of glamour and sophistication to the interior.
- Given Moon Fixtures: Inspired by the moon’s ethereal glow, these fixtures provided a softer, ambient light, creating a relaxing atmosphere within the dining space.
- ETC Echo Touch Control + Power System: This cutting-edge system enabled precise control over the lighting, allowing for customizable color, brightness, and dynamic lighting scenes within the bistro.
Harmonious Lighting Integration
Harmonious Lighting IntegrationTo create a cohesive and visually appealing lighting scheme, the Magic and Given Moon fixtures were carefully selected to complement the bistro’s existing pendant lights and newly installed LED Edison bulbs. This harmonious blend of lighting elements resulted in a warm and inviting atmosphere that enhanced the overall dining experience.
Color Control and Ambiance
A key component of the project was the integration of color control into the Given Moon fixtures. By illuminating the bistro’s interior with a spectrum of Hilton Tapestry Blue, we created a dynamic and ever-changing ambiance that complemented the restaurant’s culinary offerings. This specific shade of blue was chosen to evoke the serene and sophisticated atmosphere of the Puget Sound, aligning with the bistro’s overall aesthetic.
The Given Moon fixtures, while located indoors, were strategically placed near large windows to maximize their visual impact from the exterior. This created a captivating interplay of light and shadow, drawing attention to the bistro and enhancing its street presence.
