Bellevue Lighting had the opportunity to design the lighting for the NWES 2023 Welcome Reception, held at Seattle’s renowned Museum of Pop Culture (MoPop). This event, celebrating the kick-off of the Northwest Event Show (NWES), needed a lighting design that would elevate the space and embody the innovative spirit of MoPop. Our task was to create an immersive, dynamic atmosphere that paid homage to the museum’s design and enhanced the guest experience.
Design Concept
The design theme focused on elevating what MoPop is designed for—creativity, innovation, and pop culture. Our lighting was intended to highlight the architectural uniqueness of the venue while delivering an energetic and vibrant reception experience. We emphasized movement and color to keep the energy flowing throughout the space, particularly on the iconic stairways.
Lighting Solution
To achieve this, Bellevue Lighting implemented the following solutions:
- LED Tubes with Dynamic Movement: We used LED tubes on the stairs, programmed with dynamic movement effects to create a visually striking focal point as guests moved throughout the venue.
- Uplighting: Bold, vibrant color washes were used to bathe the event space, highlighting the creative and futuristic vibe of MoPop.
- Bistro Lights: To contrast with the dynamic LED effects, bistro lights were used in key areas to provide a warm and inviting atmosphere, creating spaces for guests to relax and feel safe at night.
- Outdoor Accent Lighting: Accent lighting highlighted key exhibits and architectural features, drawing attention to MoPop’s design while enhancing the event’s theme.
